The Sacrament Of Reconciliation (Confession)

“Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.”

In confessing their sins to a legitimate minister, being sorry for them, and at the same time proposing to reform, the faithful obtain from God forgiveness of the sins committed after baptism through the absolution by the same minister; and they are likewise reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by sinning. Those who are in search of the spirituality that they seem to have lost, who desire to recover their faith in which they were baptized are invited to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is a celebration of God’s forgiveness of the sins of the penitent. The person who confesses is then reconciled with God and with the Church. God is rich in mercy, and we are always invited to experience God's grace and forgiveness in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is a conversion from sin, confession of guilt, and forgiveness of any wrongdoing through absolution.

All Catholics over the age of reason should come to the Sacrament of Reconciliation at least once each year during Lent or Easter and as often as necessary when a serious or grave sin is committed.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered by appointment only. Please contact the parish office. 

In addition, St Philip Neri Parish community gathers for communal Reconciliation services during Lent and Advent which include opportunities for individual confession.

Sacrament of Reconciliation for Children

The Religious Education Program prepares children for their First Reconciliation at age seven or older. Classes begin in January. For more information, please contact the Faith Formation Director.
